Favorite Hikes
We have so many beautiful places up here to saunter through, admiring the flash of color from a butterfly, the song of a chickadee, the deep blue of the mountain sky. It’s hard to pick a favorite hike, but, for many reasons, I’d have to pick The Fish Creek/Aspen Grove trail. I love the way you start by walking downhill, turn the corner, then there stands a bubbling creek as a doormat to hundreds of sage-green aspens, leaves dancing in the wind. As you meander through the forest, the creek is your chatty friend, until you eventually reach meadows thick with grass, which certainly are meeting places at night for the local inhabitants. It was a beautiful hike, but, unfortunately, was burned several years ago, and has been since inaccessible. But, I’ve seen nature resurrect, and know I’ll be back someday. - Sandy M.
